I take a different approach to consulting than most other consultants. (Oh, this might be a good spot to point out that I’m a marketing consultant – i.e. I develop and provide profitable marketing campaigns and focus on online marketing for businesses)
Most consultants will take a look at your business and tell you everything you need to do with a “needs analysis.” They’ll basically give you a “brain dump” of everything they think you can do to improve your business. Essentially, they’re creating a ton of additional work for you to do.
I don’t know about you, but I already have plenty to do. That’s why when I work with a client, I work on just one project at a time. I don’t get involved in everything you’re doing and say “do this here, then do that, and you should do this.” I work with you to find what areas are going to create the most profit in the shortest amount of time – then we do that.
I’m not saying that having an expert come in and tell you the hundred things you need to do is wrong, it’s just not how I operate because it’s a heck of a lot easier to do one thing at a time than it is to figure which of the 100 things needs to get done first (and typically, none of them ever get done).
Now I can’t take everybody who wants to work with me. Sometimes we’re just not a good fit.
